Planning Your Project

Should I Visit the Showroom Before Starting My Project?

people shopping

Yes, and earlier than most people think. A showroom visit near the beginning of a project tends to save time, prevent rework, and produce a better result than one squeezed in after decisions have already been made.

Why timing matters. Fireplace choices ripple outward into other decisions. The unit you choose affects framing, venting routes, gas and electrical rough-ins, hearth construction, mantel height, and the dimensions of the surround. If you are building or remodeling, those decisions get locked in early. Homeowners who select a fireplace after framing is complete sometimes find that the unit they wanted no longer fits the opening that was built, or that the venting path they need is now blocked. A visit early in the process avoids that entirely.

What a visit actually gives you. Three things a website cannot. First, flame in person, which is the single biggest gap between photographs and reality. Flame height, movement, color, and the way a fire reads across a room are all things you have to see. Second, scale, meaning how large a unit really is relative to a wall and a room, which nearly everyone misjudges from images. Third, materials in hand, since choosing stone or brick veneer and a mantel from thumbnails is close to impossible.

Our showroom on Mormon Coulee Road carries the largest selection of residential fireplaces in the Coulee Region, with gas, wood, pellet, and electric units on display, plus an outdoor patio showing fire tables, outdoor fireplaces, and pizza ovens.

What to bring. Photos of the room from several angles, including the full wall where the fireplace will go. Measurements of the wall width, ceiling height, and any existing fireplace opening. Photos of your current fireplace if you have one. Inspiration images, which communicate your taste faster than any description. Floor plans or elevations if you are building. And a rough sense of timeline and budget, which lets us show you options that are actually relevant rather than everything we carry.

What to expect. A conversation, not a pitch. We will ask how you plan to use the space and what you want it to feel like, then narrow the field and show you the relevant units running. You will leave with a much clearer sense of your options, and no obligation. Plenty of people visit a year or more before they build, and that is a perfectly good time to come in.

Before you visit, it is worth browsing the gallery, reading customer reviews, and checking financing options and current sale items.

Hours are Tuesday through Friday 9am to 5pm, Thursdays until 7pm, and Saturdays 9am to 2pm. Stop in, or contact us first if you want to be sure the right person is available.
