Do You Work With Homeowners, Builders, and Remodelers?
Yes. La Crosse Fireplace Company works with homeowners planning their own projects as well as with builders, contractors, remodelers, and designers working on new construction and renovations. We have been doing both since 2001 as a second-generation, family-owned business in La Crosse.
Working with homeowners. If you are managing your own project, our role is to help you make good decisions and then execute them. That starts with narrowing the field among gas, wood, pellet, and electric options, moves through sizing and venting realities, and continues into stone and brick veneer and mantel selection. When the unit is installed, we walk you through operating it, and our full-time service department is available afterward.
Working with builders and contractors. Trade partners generally care about different things: accurate specifications, realistic lead times, clean rough-in information, and a supplier who shows up when the schedule says they will. We work from your drawings and timeline, provide the framing and venting details your crews need, and coordinate delivery and installation around the rest of the build. Getting fireplace specifications settled early is one of the more reliable ways to avoid a change order later, because framing, chase construction, and roof penetrations all depend on the unit selected.
Working with designers and architects. For design professionals, the constraint is usually reconciling a visual concept with clearance and venting requirements. We are happy to work through those trade-offs at the schematic stage, when there is still room to move, and to help identify units that achieve the intended look, whether that is a linear contemporary firebox, a multi-sided unit serving two rooms, or a traditional design.
Commercial projects. We also supply and install fireplaces for businesses throughout the region. Our work appears in local venues including the student center at UW La Crosse and The Grind coffee shop in Holmen. Details are on our commercial page.
Outdoor and landscape projects. On outdoor builds we frequently work alongside landscape contractors on outdoor fireplaces, fire tables, and pizza ovens. See designing an outdoor living area for how we approach those.
When to bring us in. Earlier is better in every case. For new construction, ideally before framing. For remodels, before demolition if possible, and certainly before the surround is designed. For outdoor projects, before hardscaping is poured. Once venting paths and gas runs are physically constrained, options narrow quickly.
